Conservation Challenges Faced by this Species:
The spread of the grey squirrel has caused a decline in native red squirrels. Suitable woodland areas need to be protected from disturbance, isolation, and development in order to preserve the approximately 80% of Britain's red squirrel population found in Scotland.
