Conservation Challenges Faced by this Species:

Okavango Delta, Botswana

Human development has destroyed large portions of the lion’s habitat and blocked ancient wildlife migration routes. Habitat loss combined with prey depletion through human hunting has led to increased hunting of cattle and sometimes people leading to retaliatory killing and serious human-wildlife conflict. There is also high demand across African and Asian markets for lion body parts, driving illegal poaching.
