Human-wildlife conflict has caused the retaliatory killing of Andean bears. The bears also continue to be threatened by deforestation, habitat-loss, climate change, and other ecosystem changes.
El Àguila, Colombia
Deforestation has threatened local Andean bear habitats in order to make way for an increase in agricultural opportunities. Traditional coffee production methods have also polluted surrounding water bodies.
